Originally built in 1893 as a family attraction, amusement park and its most popular attraction was swimming the Salt Lake. Saltair reached the peak of its popularity in the early 1920s when it was attracting nearly a half-million people a year until it burned down in 1925. Many different versions were rebuilt but struggled with the rising and then receding salt waters on the salt flats. On Saltair’s one hundredth anniversary the structure was restored and opened as concert & event venue, "The Great Saltair".
